Field Days

The girls attend a wonderful international Christian school.  There are over 300 students grades K-12.  The school also helps support many students who need to be homeschooled because their families live in the countryside of our nation.  A couple times a year, everyone is required to be at the school for special events.  Field Days are one of those events.  It is held annually.  This year it took place on January 24 & 25 (Fri. & Sat.).

Field Days are all about track & field events, family time, competition, and good sportsmanship.  Running is taken very seriously in our country of living.  If our country is known for any sport, it is in running (especially marathons and long distance running).

CHECK OUT the pictures for those two days below.  I put some captions under them to help share what was taking place.  ENJOY!!!!  By the way, remember it was the end of January.  The weather was around 75 degrees both days with a lovely breeze.  Perfect!

Results:
Sofia - (competed in the 8&9 yr old category as an 8 yr. old, her age at the beginning of school year)
Long jump - second place 2.46m
Ball throw - second place 16.38m
Low hurdles (50m) - second place 11.52
100m dash - third place 17.61
400m relay - fourth place 1:28.63

Selah - (all Kindergarteners compete and all receive a Participant blue ribbon)
Bean bag race -  had lots of fun
Sack race - didn't trip or fall
Three-legged race - not official but she and Sephora did cross first:)
Obstacle course - exhilirating
100m relay -  great team work
50m dash - wow, she was so fast…she crossed the line first!

A very festive day that began at 8:30 a.m. both days.

The first event for the Shecklers on Friday was Sofia doing the long jump.

Selah was so nervous beforehand.  But once things began she did amazing!!!

What's a day of races without the sack race.  The sacks were bigger than the Kindergarteners.

Seriously, we never knew that Selah could run so fast.  She surprised us.  We were so proud of her for just participating.

Sofia took first in the 100 meter qualifying race.  Later she would take 3rd in the finals.

Isaiah did so well hanging out at the event for two days.  Being a tiger sure helped.  Ha!

Being with friends was a bonus to the days activities.

This is Sofia's 100m relay team.  Sofia is the oldest…the tallest girl, she is only seven. 

Field Days is really a great time for FAMILY!!!!

Long days that ended in the late afternoon.  We look forward to next year's Field Days.
