First Birthday Party.

Have you ever asked someone when their birthday is and they answer, "I don't know"?  With the people that we interact with, this is the answer more often than not.  Some people do happen to know, but if they do know, it really is no big deal.  Birthday parties are not even a thought.

But when you hang out with Americans, some things rub off on you.  Especially if you like to dress up and have people over.  My friend "Beauty" is one of those people.

This past Saturday she threw herself a birthday party.  It was her first birthday party and what a party it was.  The party began at 3 p.m. in the afternoon.  Our family arrived to her small apartment to find it transformed from a cozy living space to a fancy party room.  A late lunch, early dinner was served to about 20 of us.  Then around 5 p.m. the men and boys slipped out while a well-known S-singer set up for the dance party attended by mostly women.

It was a great time of dancing and laughing.  We learned many things (like it is okay to show your hair if the hostess of a party says it is okay), shared a lot, and simply enjoyed sharing life with our friends.  Around 8 p.m. we girls said our goodbyes knowing that the party would last a few more hours.
